Join the G7 Collective Impact team! We’re seeking passionate volunteers and professionals to support our mission. Whether you want to assist with virtual programs, mentor youth, or help with community outreach, there are many ways to get involved. By joining G7, you’ll contribute to a movement focused on social inclusion and equity in Ottawa.
Refugee Services
Settlement and Community Integration
We offer personalized assistance to help refugees find housing, access healthcare, and enroll in local schools. By working closely with grassroots organizations embedded in the community, we ensure that refugees receive the support they need to settle into their new environment smoothly.
Trauma and Mental Health Support
Many refugees face mental health challenges due to the traumatic experiences they’ve endured. The G7 provides culturally sensitive mental health support, including peer counseling, trauma-informed care, and group therapy sessions to help refugees cope with stress, anxiety, and trauma.
Language and Cultural Programs
The G7 partners offer English language classes, along with cultural orientation programs to help refugees better understand life in Canada. By preserving and respecting their cultural identities, we ensure that refugees feel a sense of belonging while adapting to their new surroundings.
Employment and Skills Training
Employment is key to independence and integration. The G7 organizations provide job readiness training, resume writing workshops, and mentorship programs that connect refugees with employment opportunities in Ottawa. We also assist in recognizing foreign qualifications and certifications to ensure smooth entry into the job market.
Legal Assistance and Advocacy
Navigating the legal landscape can be overwhelming for newcomers. Our partners provide legal assistance for immigration issues, asylum claims, and family reunification. We also advocate for refugees’ rights, ensuring they are treated fairly and receive the support they are entitled to.
Youth and Family Support
Our youth and family programs help refugee children and teens integrate into their new communities. With after-school tutoring, leadership development, and recreational activities, we ensure that refugee youth have the tools and resources they need to succeed socially and academically.
Social Connections and Community Engagement
Building a sense of community is essential for refugees. The G7 hosts regular community events, peer support groups, and social gatherings to foster connections between refugees and long-time residents. This network of support helps reduce isolation and promotes lasting community ties.

City of Ottawa: Priority Neighbourhood Youth Initiative
The initiative, led by the Social Planning Council of Ottawa (SPCO) and partnered with the City of Ottawa’s Crime Prevention and Restorative Services Division, the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, and seven grassroots organizations, focuses on culturally responsive programs. This collaboration addresses community needs and fosters long-term positive change in Ottawa’s diverse neighborhoods, working collectively to improve the future for racialized youth and families.
